A Divine Announcement: Angel Gabriel and Mary
In the quiet town of Nazareth, a young woman named Mary received an extraordinary visitor. This visitor was an angel named Gabriel, who had a special message for her from God.
Gabriel explained to Mary that she would soon give birth to a baby, who was to be named Jesus. The angel said that Mary would become the mother of the Son of God, the Savior for all people.
It was a big responsibility, but Mary, full of grace and courage, accepted it willingly.

Joseph’s Dream and the Journey to Bethlehem
Now, Mary was promised to a righteous and good-hearted man named Joseph. Joseph was at first hurt and confused by the news. He couldn’t comprehend it until an angel appeared in his dream.
The angel told Joseph that Mary’s baby was indeed the Son of God. This angel, glowing with heavenly light, told Joseph: “Joseph, take Mary as your wife. She will soon give birth to the Savior of the world.”
Reassured, Joseph woke from the dream with newfound understanding. He courageously decided to stand by Mary and support her on this holy journey.
Around this time, the Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus ordered a census. For Mary and Joseph, this meant a long journey from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem in Judea. Despite the challenges, they started their journey, their hearts filled with anticipation and faith.
The Birth of Jesus in A Manger
With each passing day, the journey grew increasingly difficult, especially for Mary. She was nearing the time to give birth to the Savior, and the rough roads didn’t make it any easier. When they finally the couple arrived at Bethlehem, the town was buzzing with travelers who, like them, were there to be counted in the census. The small town was filled to the brim, leaving no room for them to find a comfortable place to stay.
An inn owner, seeing Mary’s condition, kindly offered them a place in his stable. It was a humble stable, a home to many creatures of the field. But it was warm, it was safe, and it would serve as the birthplace of a King. Here, in this humble setting, surrounded by sleeping animals, baby Jesus was born.
Joseph, filled with joy, watched as Mary gently swaddled their newborn in soft cloths. There was no crib for the little one, so they used a manger, a feeding trough for animals. It wasn’t a palace fit for a king, but it was all they had.
Yet, in the simplicity and humility of the stable, there was warmth and love. In that moment, as Joseph and Mary looked upon their son, they knew He was special. The Son of God was born, the Savior that Gabriel had told them about.
The Shepherds and the Angel
Nearby, shepherds watched over their flocks. Suddenly, the angel of the Lord appeared, and a bright star shone around them. The angel told them,
“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:10-11)
They rushed to Bethlehem and found Jesus, just as the angel had said. When they saw baby Jesus, the shepherds said to one another, “This is the Savior we’ve been waiting for!” and they worshipped Him.
The Angels Celebrate the Birth of Jesus
When Jesus Christ was born, a single star, brighter than any other, adorned the night sky, marking the spot where the Holy Child lay.
In heaven, angels filled with joy welcomed Jesus’ birth with a harmonious song. Their angelic voices, resonating in the still night, carried the good news of the Savior’s birth and the promise that Jesus would save all people from their sins.
The Three Wise Men Follow The Star
Far in the East, in a distant kingdom, three wise men lived. Their names were Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar. They noticed a bright star in the sky, brighter and more beautiful than they had ever seen before. Their wisdom told them that this star was a sign, a celestial announcement of the birth of a great king.
They followed the star, their guide across deserts and mountains, through cold nights and warm days, till it led them to a humble town named Bethlehem. Along the way, they encountered King Herod of Judea, who feigned interest in worshiping the new king but secretly had a wicked plan.
Upon reaching Bethlehem, the wise men found Mary and the Holy Child. Overwhelmed with joy, they knelt and worshipped Him, acknowledging His divine presence.
They brought Jesus gifts befitting a king: Melchior brought gold, a gift fit for a king. Gaspar carried frankincense, used in worship, symbolizing the child’s divinity. Balthazar had myrrh, a perfume used in burials, signifying that this king would make a significant sacrifice.
Meanwhile, King Herod was troubled by this ‘new king’. In his jealousy, he wanted to kill Jesus. However, the wise men, having been warned in a dream, wisely decided not to return to Herod. Instead, the wise men continued their journey from another route, ensuring the safety of the newborn king.
The Meaning of the Christmas Story
The story of the birth of Jesus, especially beloved as a story for kids, holds a deep meaning that goes beyond the nativity scene.
